The Tailored Perspective: Lauren Bush Lauren
Lauren Bush Lauren, Founder of FEED Projects
Tell us about your work.
“FEED is a social-impact driven business, on a mission to create good products that help feed the children of the world. Every single FEED product sold provides school meals, transparently represented by the number stamped on each product. Hunger can feel like a massively overwhelming issue and it’s one that persists in every town, state and country around the globe, but we believe that through tangible and even seemingly-small collective actions, it is solvable. To date, we’ve provided over 103 million school meals, through our customers purchases.”
What inspires you?
“Doing something I love that challenges me daily, allows me to be creative, and most importantly, helps kids in need. We’re on a mission to create a better world and have cultivated an incredible community that really rallies around the fight to end hunger. And if that’s not inspiring, I don’t know what is.”
How does what you’re wearing affect your work day?
“Wearing clothes that are effortless, chic and comfortable helps me feel more like myself and thus I can be more present during my day at work and at home.”
Describe your ideal working environment.
“My ideal working environment is one that is inspiring and filled with people I respect and can learn from. I feel very lucky to work with Team FEED – a group of smart and dedicated women. We also lead with kindness at FEED and that’s one of the single most important things to me in a workplace environment.”
Describe your ideal wear-to-work outfit.
“My ideal wear-to-work outfit is probably jeans, loafers, and a navy blazer. This is also a look that pairs really well with the FEED aesthetic – functional, versatile and chic.”
What makes you feel empowered?
“I feel empowered when I am able to see my ideas manifested. I still get chills when I see a FEED bag on the street, even 10 years in. I also feel empowered everyday just knowing that at the end of the day, I have tried and done my very best at the job at hand.”
What is your approach to dressing for work?
“I dress for utility as much as style. I have a busy day, between a hectic morning with my kids and then a busy day at work – I’m in the office, I’m in meetings offsite or lunches, or I’m hunkering down over the latest designs or answering emails – so it’s important that my look is stylish, but effortless and comfortable. I generally don’t have time to over-think my look for the day, so easily mixed and matched, versatile and presentable pieces are key.”
