Shopbop’s Fashion Director Caroline Maguire chats about life, style and a Rebecca Taylor blouse that marked the beginning of a new chapter in her professional life.
Chapter 7: Caroline Maguire

The Victorian blouse that she made big career moves in… “I own a lot of RT clothing, but this blouse is the most nostalgic. I bought it when I started at Shopbop and wore it for one of my first portrait shoots. It reminds me of starting a new chapter in life, so it signifies change, power and excitement.”
Rebecca Taylor makes me feel…
“Real.”

A lesson she’s learned along the way… “I’ve learned to learn a lot wherever and whatever situation I find myself in. Absorb it all and be humble.”
On the best part about being a woman… “You’re the jack of all trades. You’re a mother, a wife, a full-time career woman, a sister, a daughter, a daughter-in-law. There are so many hats to put on.”
On what inspires her… “My mother is definitely an inspiration. She was a full-time working mother, raised my sister and me. She always had a work hard, never give up attitude. I hope to be that way for my children. You can have it all, but it just takes time and help. Lots of help and don’t be afraid to ask for it.”

On the meaning of fashion...
“I think fashion is fun. You get to play with it
and it shouldn’t be so serious.”
Her mantra…
“Yolo. You only live once so don’t sweat the small stuff.
Live every day to the fullest because you don’t know
what’s going to happen the next day or the next hour.”
