At Home: Tamu McPherson
How are you staying busy during your time at home?
It's a funny thing. Initially, I planned to catch up on organizing my office and closet, to read several books that I purchased over the last few months, and to write more. I feel like I spend most of my time preparing meals and doing housework. After almost four weeks, I am now only beginning to increase my productivity. I have accepted that this is the way my lockdown journey was meant to unfold. I usually travel so much, and I believe that the universe is willing me and the rest of the world to be as still as possible.
Are you sticking to a routine, or just taking each day as it comes?
After observing my early days on lockdown and how I was unable to get through my to-do lists, I decided to take each day as it comes. Our generation has never been through a pandemic before, and we can't expect to function how we normally do mentally and physically. With this in mind, I am being more gentle with myself.
Anything new you’re working on that you don’t normally have time for?
I am cooking more. I am also dedicating more time to my meditation practice and to reading books by spiritual thinkers and leaders.
How are you approaching getting dressed for staying at home?
I get dressed most days. The small act of getting dressed each morning positively affects my mood and adds purpose and variety to my days.
What’s the first thing you want to do once it’s safe to be out?
I think that we will gradually go back outside. I don't think that it will be an immediate unsheltering. I just want to go for a long walk, definitely past theDuomodi Milano, and I dream of going home to Jamaica, but that will be sometime in the future.
What are you looking forward to wearing most once the weather warms up and we can enjoy the outdoors?
Your shorts that I photographed, they are so cute.
